Bringing justice, peace and stability requires "firmness, strictness and clarity " from United Nations (Secretary General of Polisario Front)

Birlehlu (Liberated Territories) April 14, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, affirmed that bringing justice, peace and stability requires "firmness, strictness and clarity " from the United Nations to "impose respect of its charter and resolutions," warning that Morocco wanted the UN to abandon its "responsibility in the decolonization of Western Sahara," in a letter Monday to the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki- Moon.
The President of the Republic pointed out that the mandate of the MINURSO in Western Sahara is "unequivocal" which is the organisation of the self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people, stressing that what Rabat wanted was " ambiguity and deadlock."

He also indicated, in this regard, that the Kingdom of Morocco is trying to "wriggle out" of the settlement plan which has signed and endorsed by the UN Security Council in 1991.

He insisted that it is time the United Nations assume its responsibilities to end the tragedy of the Saharawi people which lasted about 40 years, through legal and democratic path that enables the Saharawi people to choose their future freely.

President Mohamed Abdelaziz demanded taking "strict measures" against Moroccan gross violations of Sahrawi human rights and finding a permanent, independent and impartial mechanism able to protect human rights in the Western Sahara and preventing signing any agreements with the Kingdom of Morocco including the occupied Western Sahara.
