President of Republic receives Gernika Award for Peace and Reconciliation

Gernika (Basque Region), April 26, 2015 (SPS) - The Gernika Award for Peace and Reconciliation for 2015 was presented on Sunday to the President of Parliament, Khatri Addouh, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, after a ceremony commemorating the 78th anniversary of the bombing of the city of Gernika.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Addouh said "this award shows that we are not alone in our struggle and reiterates the commitment of the Basque people to support the Saharawi people in the difficult moments of their struggle."

"Morocco continues to occupy our country, violates systematically the human rights of Sahrawis, and frantically loots against international law our natural resources. Morocco is campaigning to continue to gain more time" lamented Mr. Addouh.

The President of the Parliament reiterated that "the Saharawi people, under the leadership of its sole legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, will accomplish independence whatever the sacrifices." (SPS)
