POLISARIO reminds Felipe VI of Spain’s historic responsibility towards decolonization of Western Sahara

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), June 19, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz has reminded Felipe VI, new King of Spain, about his country’s historic responsibility vis-à-vis the unfinished process of decolonization in Western Sahara.
Expressing sincere congratulations to Felipe VI following his proclamation as the King of Spain, President Mohamed Abdelaziz hoped success and prosperity as Spain enters into a new phase.
“We have no doubt that His Majesty, in the framework of his commitment to the values of international law, democracy, solidarity and understanding, will spare no effort to contribute actively and successfully in just and lasting settlement to the conflict of Western Sahara,” writes the President of the Republic in his letter to the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
The letter went on saying that the people of Western Sahara and Spain have maintained historical, cultural and linguistic ties that form a solid foundation for strong relations of friendship and solidarity, in the present and in the future.
Felipe VI of Spain has acceded to the throne, following the abdication of his father Juan Carlos, who has been ruling Spain since 1975. (SPS)
