Bisáu, June 23, 2014 (SPS) - The newly-elected President of Guinea-Bissau, Jose Mario Vas, takes office today, Monday, after winning the second round of the presidential elections that took place on 18 May, reported Prensa Latina.
According to election officials, president Vas will have as prime minister Domingos Simos Pereira, leader of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC).
The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, sent a congratulatory message to Guinea-Bissau new president after his victory in the presidential election.
President Mohamed Abdelaziz reiterated his willingness to open up a phase of solid relations of friendship and cooperation between the two governments (SADR and Guinea Bissau). (SPS)
